There is literally nothing that could make me not love the Harrier. I still have a picture my Marine cousin took and sent me of one taking off from whatever carrier he was on in the Gulf.

I still can’t believe we got rid of the Harrier from U.K. forces.
The latest loss was the Sea King.

Ye’, when we mothballed them. They were hooked up to electrics and maintained then we sold them to the U.S. for a massive discount for the U.S. to use them as spare parts.
I believe some are sat in a boneyard in Nevada.

Yes, the AMARC Experience webpage says we have 50 there (3 GR.7 and 47 GR.9). I don’t see them on satellite pics (and I think the imagery is new enough), but maybe they being kept in hangars or other shelters.

All that austerity for you. Apparently the Queen Elizabeth is going to be flying US F-35Bs initially, since the UK hasn’t had many delivered at this point.

I recall seeing about six on Google Earth last years.
They only had covers over the glass and engine intakes.
EDIT: Sorry, just looked, they are at AMARG, Tucson, Arizona.
The whole lot sold for £116million.
Other images since Google Earth show they’ve been cannibalised.

The U.S. Marines will have their aircraft on our aircraft carriers till ours arrive.
http://www.forces.net/news/tri-service/us-fly-f-35-royal-navys-hms-queen-elizabeth
UK Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon has confirmed that the US will deploy F-35 fighter planes on board the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.
The planes will be US Marine Corps F-35B jets, with UK planes expected to do the same on US vessels “in the fullness of time”.
Granted this was all pre-trumpton.
